Abilitech Robotic Assist
The Abilitech robotic device is a powered upper extremity orthosis that is designed to enable users with arm impairments to overcome activity limitations and perform activities of daily living.
Battery operated motors attach to thin cables that in turn connect to the device joints. Motor-driven motions include shoulder flexion-extension, shoulder adduction-abduction, elbow flexion-extension, and forearm pronation-supination.
The device was funded through a phase 1 SBIR NIH grant in partnership with Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, Allina Health, and the University of Minnesota.
